
Heather believes counselling plays a key role in helping people to explore the difficulties and concerns they face in life. She is passionate about supporting people, helping them to develop resourceful and satisfying ways of living. Heather draws upon a variety of abilities, skills and experience in working with clients with a wide range of issues. These include anger issues, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, relationship issues, behaviour issues, self worth and parenting challenges. Heather is an approved ACC provider for sensitive claims.
Heather is an educator, parent coach, supervisor and counsellor and has over 30 years experience in working with people and their families. She is able to work with people of varying ages. This includes children, teenagers, adults, as individuals or within families. Heather works with the following therapeutic models; cognitive behaviour therapy, narrative therapy, acceptance commitment therapy, family therapy and interactive drawing therapy. Heather also specialises in attachment & relationship issues in both adults and children. Her skills as an early childhood teacher coupled with her counselling work enables Heather to work with children using play therapy. Heather is trained as a professional supervisor in the workplace.
